  • I wonder something about SN4,

In EP01, when Dean has come back to life again and visit the motel with Babby to meet Sam, the girl tells Sam that her name is "Christy".

And in the very next EP, after Sam exorcised the demon, "Ruby" come into the diner.

And in the very next EP, after Sam exorsied the demon, "Ruby" walks in, actually the same girl in the EP01, but she is called "Ruby".

So, I thought Ruby has possessed the girl "Christy"

But in the EP 09, I could see that Ruby has possessed the dead girl.

When Ruby has possessed that girl is after Dean's death. Then when Dean came to visit Sam, wasn't the girl "Christy" Ruby?

I just don't get it. Do you? Then, explain it, please :D

  • my theory on the supernatural

    • From: natane
    • Description:

ok. so my sister came up with this theory. i don't know how, but it fits perfectly. it seems like a season finale kripke would do. so here it is...

so i always thought that ruby was bad. i mean come on 'she remembers what it was like to be human' isn't good enough reason i don't think. so ruby is actually bad and she's getting sammy to drink the demon blood to make him stronger so he can defeat lilith because defeating lilith is the last seal that has to be broken. that's why dean has to do it. he was the richious man that shead blood in hell and he is the one who has to stop the apocolypse. but if sammy kills lilith then he breaks the last seal and lucifer is set free. that is why lilith said she knows she won't survive the war. cuz she knows that sam is going to kill her. she is going to sacrafice herself to raise lucifer and start the apocolypse. also i think that zacharia is bad also. cuz he is the one that gives the orders to cas like uriel used to give the orders to cas and last week cas was following orders setting sam free. and by setting sammy free he found ruby again, got more demon blood in him and is going after lilith like they want him to, so zacharia is bad like uriel was.

pretty good huh?:) i am 99% convinced that this is what's goin to happen...i can't wait to find out what eric kripke has in store for us all...

  • AWESOME

    • From: cyberpob
    • Description:

We were really impressed with last Sunday's episode. It had everything we wanted! It was like a mini movie or a season finale.

Not only was Castiel in it but Sam was getting into his demon side and a revelation was laid before poor Dean.
I think Dean could have been a bit more brutal with Alastair though.

Not hot: the voice of Alastair started to grate and seemed overplayed but I got used to it towards the end.
      Boring Anna being boring.

Hot: the 'human' side of Castiel, Sam sucking Ruby's blood

After the episode we went to see Wolverine at the flicks. What a great night! xx

  • Room 207 - Hot as Hell

    • From: cyberpob
    • Description:

OMG! How hot was this episode - a continuation of the anna the angel stuff. I was hooked and then Dean took his shirt off - I couldn't take my eyes of that hunky torso. Anna - what a waste and how unrealistic - I thought Dean would have some discrimination but I guess it would spoil the cute parallel of having Sammy dating a demon and Dean dating an angel. I also loved the brilliant character of Alistair. Hope he comes back. And I like Pamela the medium being the new Ellen figure.

I prefer these dark, delving episodes rather than the seemy standalones. what do you think?

can't wait till next week!! xx

  • Supernatural!!!

    • From: sprntralgrl1
    • Description:

Supernatural is a great tv show once you know whats it all about. Sam: Left for College, Tryed to be normal, Got picked up by Dean who told him that their father was on a hunting trip, gf got burned alive, died but got saved by Dean for making a deal, blah blah, to the point while Dean was in Hell, Sam hooked with the evil demon [...] Ruby. Then Dean comes back and figures it out.

Dean: Took care of Sammy since he was a baby, picked him up from College, Saved Sam when he didn't want to leave Jessica. Blah, Blah. Made a deal with a demon for Sammy. Went to Hell and for 30 years he told Allastir that he wouldn't rip apart souls to get off the rack but after 30 years he said OK. Got grouped by an Angel. Found Sam. Sam almost tried to kill him because he doesn't belive that Dean was Dean. Then Dean found out Sam was working with Ruby.

Thats all you need to know about Sam and Dean..... so far Wink

  • Room 207 - Episode 3

    • From: cyberpob
    • Description:

OMG I was tucked inside my fluffy white robe watching the third ep of the fourth season in freezing London. Totally absorbed by the revelations, man!

As you Yanks'll know this is the ep the boys' past is revealed when dishy Dean goes back to '73.

I loved the actor who played the lads' grandad/demon with the yellow eyes - he played it so well. Ofcourse there was no way Dean'd be able to change the course of events.

I also find the angel somewhat irritating now...

  • ROOM 207 - a Brit's view

    • From: cyberpob
    • Description:

THIS is cyberpob's Room 207 blog. Recognise it? It's the motel room that finally reunites Sam and Dean after three months apart and also begins Season 4 in earnest.

We've only just started the fourth series in the UK so are way behind with it than you guys over the pond - but what an exciting start to the new season! Padalecki and Ackles are pumped and looking fitter than ever and how about that angel of the Lord? I'd better say three hail Marys.

But ofcourse Supernatural is so much more than fit guys. It reveals Sam has honed some of his power to vanquish lower level demons, as we see in the diner and we have a new female body being taken over by Ruby.

Hot stuff in the first two eps: Sam and Dean, spotless Impala, Sam and Dean... and Sam and Dean.

Cold stuff in the first two eps: Sam's 'refurb' on the Impala's sound system, the loss of blonde Ruby (great actress with a demonic intensity) to a brunette bimbo (poor acting, better not be a Sam love interest).

      Disagree? Tell me.....

  • Alone - Edgar Allan Poe

    • From: MissvanHelsing
    • Description:

From childhood's hour I have not been
As others were; I have not seen
As others saw; I could not bring
My passions from a common spring.
From the same source I have not taken
My sorrow; I could not awaken
      My heart to joy at the same tone;
And all I loved, I loved alone.
Then - in my childhood, in the dawn
Of a most stormy life - was drawn
From every depth of good and ill
The mystery which binds me still:
From the torrent, or the fountain,
From the red cliff of the mountain,
From the sun that round me rolled
In its autumn tint of gold,
From the lightning in the sky
As it passed me flying by,
From the thunder and the storm,
And the cloud that took the form
(When the rest of Heaven was blue)
Of a demon in my view.

      Hi Mike,

I hope you are in good health!

  • EYECON2 Day 2

    • From: ErinRua
    • Description:

Day 2 of EyeCon 2 began for me with a trip to the downstairs Starbucks for a nutritious breakfast: a muffin, a fruit smoothie, and a cup of decaf. The muffin was awesome. The smoothie tasted like ... a liquefied vitamin pill, lol! I also made a mosey around the autograph tables, where I said good morning to AJ & Travis and Chad.

Anyhow, the day's events kicked off with a Q&A by the one and only Jim Beaver! I can safely say he has got the hang of all this convention stuff, including taking the mickey out of us. *g* He opened with this truly silly charade of having a faulty mic, very animatedly talking and gesticulating - while making no sound at all. He followed this up with fragments of voice, as if he were cutting in and out, and I think he missed his calling as a human sound effects machine. ;-P

Before the good stuff started, though, we had a redheaded staffer, Yvette, with ... well, some sort of gift/joke where she presented Jim with a "I'm a Bobby Girl" T-shirt, and then commenced to sing (badly) a song to go with it. *scratches head* Um ... yeah. Needless to say, she rendered Jim and a good part of the audience pretty much speechless.

But on with the show. Jim was in his usual rare form, funny, snarky and sardonic, addressing us as if we were all his somewhat dim but no less loved relatives, lol. He especially played with us about spoilers, hemming and hawwing to cries of protest until revealing the dramatic fact that ... Sam and Dean will be investigating something really scary. LOL! (For those wondering, his T-shirt was quite tame this time, reading only, "I do my own stunts" with a little cartoon of a guy falling down.)

Of course, Jared and Jensen figured into some of Jim's talk, including Jim stating ominously that Jared's only played one prank, but he hasn't dared any more. Jim promised he has a plan for revenge, but (insert deep, wicked voice) it may take two or three years, heh heh heh. Jared is, Jim assured us, 6'4" of baby, who thinks he's in kindergarten and when he's 90 years old on his deathbed, he's going to pull a stunt. ;-)

The Qs and As were fun and entertaining, not a whole lot new but mainly just a chance to enjoy Jim being Jim. LOL, a note I both treasure and dread: when I raised my hand for my chance to Q, when he saw who it was, he got this sardonic, teasing grin and said, "Yes, Erin." Oh, noes, he knows me by name across a room - eeps! *face-palm* But, being dead tired on little sleep and rather much wine, last night, my thinky question of earlier evaporated completely from my mind. So, instead I asked him about wrestling down a big ol' kid like Jared, as Bobby did Sam in the season premiere.

My question inadvertently sparked what's apparently become a favorite note of the evening, LOL! After chiding me for not thinking he could really *do* it, Jim told how he had to hold Jared for the shot of Bobby restraining Sam from attacking the newly-risen Dean, and teased that yeah, the rest of us would love that, lol. When it took them time to set it up, he *kept* holding Jared preparatory to each take, and meanwhile felt up Jared's pects and chest and the upshot now is ... they're engaged. ROTFLMAO! (He later also noted that they're registered at Home Depot. *SNORK!*)

Oh! Jim did spill that in Episode 6, Bobby gets to drive the Impala. HEE!

      Some A's from Jim's Q's include:
His current project, Harper's Island, is under uber strict confidentiality agreements, because the effectiveness of the show depends on the audience being surprised. Jim's own role is very different from Bobby, instead a man who rarely speaks, and it's a more internal role.

Deadwood was, he said, a role he was born to play.

The nature of a character and the scripts writing have more to do with him getting into character than the period or the costumes.

He finds it most chaotic to shoot a scene with lots of people or lots of Special FX. The fight scene with the boys' blasting ghosts during Bobby's ritual in 4:02 his example.

And ... that's kind of it. Jim doesn't know what Bobby is doing after about Ep. 6, and he figures we won't see much of Bobby for a while, until Harper's Island is wrapped and the latter episodes of SPN are to be filmed. HI would let Jim go film SPN if needed, but he hasn't got the call for anything further on, yet.

In summary, Jim was awesome and amazing and a pure joy to see/hear. He treats us all like ... well, like occasionally exasperating family whom he nonetheless loves to have around. :-)

Next on the schedule were the Ghost Facers, AJ and Travis. To be honest, I was kind of "meh" about seeing them, figured I'd do it just because I'm here, but ... no squee involved. I even came back in a few minutes late... and I was very pleasantly surprised! They were funny and goofy and borderline slapstick and played off each other hilariously. AJ seems the mellower of the two, with Travis so amped he had to put aside his chair just so he could pace and bounce around, lol! They also did a hilarious in-house riff where AJ flattered Travis about we don't even know what, while Travis went all "golly shucks" - all in an absurd verbal shorthand that meant nothing to anyone else. They really should be a stand-up team...

Tidbits of their talk include: a very great deal of Ghostfacers was shot by them, with their ghost hunting crew actually holding the cameras. It was scripted, of course, but they were given lots of room to just do their thing, which made for a very different acting experience. (For example, the rat Travis freaked over was just tossed in the room for atmosphere, but Travis saw it and chose to scream and react.)

AJ and Travis also spoke very highly of Jensen and Jared, as well as riffing about how HUGE Jared is, how big *both* boys are compared to their smaller statures. AJ told how Jared one day just picked him up and ran around with him slung over his shoulder, while AJ freaked that he was going to be dropped, and Jensen chastised him to put AJ down. LOL!

Fave lines from the show: "Sweet lord -" "- of the Rings!" and the "chisel chest" exchange. Apparently that absolutely broke Jared up the first time they said it, and they said Jared laughs *huge*, and when he does, everything just stops.

Yes, they miss Corbett, and if we smell French Vanilla, that would be Corbett farts. :-p

Asked about pranks, they said Jared would do just anything to distract and make you laugh. They also told the already-immortal tale of them trying to keep straight and do the ghostly train-death victim scene - while Jensen was goosing AJ in the ass with a shotgun! AJ would go "AH!" and the director would ask, "Why do you keep going 'ah'?, and Jensen would echo, "Yeah, why do you keep going 'ah'?" LOL!

In all, they were funny, boyish, hyper, and played off each other hilariously, as well as being easily distracted by their own silliness. They also had great fun with the guy who ran the mic around, Steven, sending him dashing from one side of the crowd to the other.

Next up - Fred Lehne, the Yellow-Eyed Demon himself! Having stepped out for a break, I came in late, so I missed his entrance, but I got the bulk of his Q&A. The poor guy was *not* well, and his voice was half gone, but he carried on like a trouper. I honestly didn't know what to expect, and I've heard some iffy things about past con behaviors, but the man I saw today was just plain fun. He told us about his underwear - Calvin Klein - his fan boy moments - Bruce Springsteen and Elizabeth Taylor (her eyes really were violet, and she rendered him completely incoherent.)

My question to him was how much was him and how much was direction, in the YED's smarmy, supercilious demeanor. His response: they just let him go, and what we saw was what came out when he played the scene. Someone also asked if he ever thought about the poor janitor the YED had possessed. Fred responded with a practiced sneer that the janitor had more fun with him then out in the basement with the mops, lol!

A couple times he turned the questions back on his audience, which earned fun results. When people floundered for answers, he laughed and said, "Not so easy, is it?" He also set himself up with innuendos several times, chiding us, "You've got *dirty* minds. I like it." LOL! On the many times he's died in various roles, he quipped, "I've died so many times I'm afraid when it really happens it'll be a disappointment - hey, this isn't like on Supernatural!" His favorite film death(s) belonged to "Lost," where his character apparently died several nasty times.

Upon being asked, "Do your kids ever show any interest in acting?" he replied, "No, not even mine!" LOL! His favorite SPN line: "You're going to live long enough to know the taste of your own intestines." He declared it's not often you get to say something like that! ;-)

So ... there's that. He gave us nothing new, but simply because he *has* nothing new, but he was by turns warm, funny, irreverent and teasing, a very comfortable presence to be around. I found him to be a pure pleasure and lots of fun, which rendered me happily surprised.

Subsequently came Nicki Aycox, aka the demon, Meg. Now this girl? Was an absolutely unexpected joy. My first impression was that she is *tiny*, lovely, a bit nervous at first, but utterly spunky and witty.

Highlights of her talk: her fangirl moments were with X-files movie co-star, David Duchovny, where she had to appear in a scene in a yukky hospital gown. Not exactly the circumstances in which she wanted to meet him, lol! And ditto with Bruce Willis, when she met him before playing a part with him.

Asked if Jared and Jensen ever pranked her, she replied tartly, "Pranks? I'm too smart for that." Did she prank them back? Nicki smirked and said, "It wouldn't be an even match." ROTFL!

On filming SPN: she told of how hard it was for Jensen to slap her for a scene, to the point he almost couldn't bring himself to do it. (Awww.) Per getting along with the boys, she said they were Texas boys and she was an Oklahoma girl, so they got along just fine. She spoke of Jared and Jensen in the very highest of terms, nothing but praise and affection for them both.

My Q to her was regarding the episode, "Shadow." I loved her sensuality, her sexual aggression in Meg, the imbalance of power with Sam and Dean as her prisoners. I wanted to know how much was her and how much was direction? She replied that the words were all scripted, but the actions were all hers, the crawling back and forth and sliding around the pole, kicking Jensen's/Dean's leg aside, etc. She had *wanted* that imbalance of power, wanted to give a strong woman character. Jared and Jensen had no idea how she was going to play the scene, so she asked the crew to keep them in the dark until they were rolling, so she'd get the sort of genuine reactions the boys gave.

A trivial note: they sometimes used ramps to get hers and Jared's faces in the same frame, lol! She also repeatedly praised Jared and Jensen, saying she'd come back for them in a heartbeat and do anything on SPN, and equally praised the SPN workplace. In all, I found Nicki to be articulate, smart, forthright, and a real treat to hear, and she was fiercely proud of how the SPN fandom had embraced Meg.

Jason Manns had the next Q&A, which I attended since I liked his music so well. (I must here add that [info]blacklid bought me Jason's CD, which makes her eleventy billion new kinds of awesome.) Up there in front of a couple hundred inquisitive eyes, Jason came across to me as affable, relaxed, low-key, and a man at home in his own skin.

My Q for his A was about how he wrote songs: in effect, did he tend to find words first and then the music, or music first and then the words, or what? I told him that a handful of my own poems came out with such a strong sense of internal rhythm that they sometimes felt like they could be songs - were it not for my total lack of musical talent. Jason replied that it was both, sometimes he'd get words in search of a tune, and he has snippets of tunes just waiting for the words. He went on about the songwriting process for a little bit, which pleased me to no end, talking about songwriting teams where one person is the lyricist and the other the musician, and finished by advising me with a smile that I should find a friend with a piano. *G*

Other answers to fan questions included: He did encourage Jensen to sing, but Jason also explained about the commitment needed to really pursue singing. He reminded us that Jensen was simply too busy for the amount of practice that would give him the confidence to play and sing in front of audiences, and that being a musician/singer is a thing that requires work. Jensen, Jason said, is just not prepared to make the change from music he plays to relax into music for work. Right now Jensen's work is acting, and he prefers to keep music just for fun.

So, fans who love Jensen's angelic voice, there is your answer on that. :-)

Jason rounded out his session by playing a song or three in his mellow, beautiful, acoustic style, including a gently-jazzed version of "Sittin' On a Dock of the Bay." I really, really like this guy, both the easy, comfortable way he has with people and the sheer beauty of his voice, the artistry of his music. When I want something to just be mellow with and feel good, I think I've got me some new tunes for my playlist. :-)

There were breaks between things, too, I'm just not writing a strict chronology, but I did make time to mosey about a bit. At one point  Karina and I took a turn around the mall, nosing in a couple shops and getting her a pair of sunglasses, me a new Led Zeppelin t-shirt, and just sort of stretching our legs. In the vendors' room I replaced my SPN poster that I'd lost/left coming through airport security on my flight out, and looked at all the SPN goodies that were on offer. They also had a vendor selling corsets and other goth-type costume stuff, which actually seemed to sell. Me and corsets? Not so much, lol.

I also did my photo op with Jim, figuring to get that out of the way before the Sunday crowds. I missed Nicki's Saturday op, but she would be there again on Sunday. Meanwhile I got some of my autographs for my spiffy SPN poster, including Jim's, AJ's & Travis', Nicki's, Fred's and Chad's. This year everyone including Jim were at tables off the vendors' room, which made casual chatting much easier and more fun. So, all I needed was Jared's autograph! YAY! Uh, I think I also took time out to grab a quick lunch in the food court along with roomies Gwen, Cassie, Heidi, and Amy.  LOL, I couldn't just keep forgetting to eat, or I'd tip over!

Later that evening, I had some things on my mind and dinner plans fell through, so I threw monetary caution to the winds and bought myself a Banquet ticket. I had no one to sit with, and really just expected to end up with fans, but to my amazement found myself with a choice: Fred, Jason or Steve Carlson. LOL, I was so flustered by this unexpected chance that I just went for the easy choice, Steve, since I'd already talked to him a few times both this con and last April. I guess I wasn't feeling brave enough for Fred and just kind of spazzed over the idea of sitting with Jason, lol.

Anyhow, it made for a pleasant interlude. I sat among strangers and there was a bit of initial awkwardness, but Steve was so laid-back about it. In fact, he led us in staging the first assault on the buffet table, lol, when everyone else seemed to be waiting in exquisite politeness for some sort of dinner bell. After a while we relaxed into comfortable conversation, and enjoyed.

The food *was* better than last time, served on steam tables rather than allowed to get cold and yukky whilst trying to figure out how to serve umpty hundred dinners at once. I think there were fewer people this time, too. The dinner itself included rice pilaf, chicken, roast beef, a tasty pasta dish, something with zucchinis and yellow squash, and pie. :-) Maybe not 4-Star, but they made a noticeable effort to improve, and my roast beef was tender and delicious. (Plus being able to go back for seconds was a definite plus, lol!)

Across the room, gales of manic hilarity burst frequently from the tables headed by Travis & AJ and Chad Lindberg. LOL, evidently they were having a fake-laughter contest. Those of us with Steve were just as glad to play it mellow and let those guys have all the rowdy fun. ;-)

Steve eventually had to leave to prepare for his concert, but for those who remained at our table, AJ stopped by to chat a bit, just a really nice, gently-spoken guy, then Fred popped in to joke and tease, despite his raspy voice and lingering cold-bug, and he made us laugh over I don't even remember what. Chad stopped by last, when I think only 4 of us remained over pie, and we all had a *very* nice chat about his movie. He's very earnest about it, passionate in his desire for it to reach a larger audience, and sincere in his inquiries about our reactions. I think it really pleased and touched him that we understood its message, the need to understand about the acting industry and how easily the lines blur between fiction and reality, too often with tragic consequences. I think of the entire dinner, I enjoyed the chat with Chad the most.

Anyhow, it was worth it to me, given my temporary state of mind, to just say [...] and throw some money at the chance to embrace one more con experience. I enjoyed it, and I was *very* happily surprised that my late dinner ticket and lower badge number (106) still got me a celeb seat. :-) LOL, the only thing I might do different would be to *plan* slightly ahead, so I could have changed into better evening clothes.

Things were running late by then, but I looked forward to Steve Carlson's concert, having enjoyed his music at the April EyeCon. A good crowd gathered and I thought it was cute that, when he first took the stage, he asked lighting to turn off the spot for a few minutes. Before we make love, he says, we should at least make eye contact. Flirt. ;-)

As before, his show was warm and fun and intimate, just a storyteller and his songs. At one point he called Jason Manns up to join him in a duet, singing an upbeat version of "Stuck on You," the two of them swapping lead vocals. Good? Honey, there were angels weeping at the beauty of those two voices. :-) Jason remained in the front of the audience for the rest of Steve's concert, and the two palled around all weekend. In all, Steve once again gave us a terrific show, closing with a high energy encore with a sweet finish and awesome, awesome guitar. :-)

And after that ... uh, what next? Oh, Platinum Party! Right. So we had the platinum party, and again, Kenny and Voni made a real effort to improve. The room was much bigger, the bar more accessible, and people had more room to mingle. The party room was dominated by the Rock Band game setup, and we got to watch Travis, Chad and several fans horribly mutilate a couple songs, lol! Chad followed with a rock star rendition of "Eye of the Tiger" which is probably all over YouTube by now, very funny!

The noise in the room did, however, prompt people to drift back out onto the Mezzanine by the game room, where folks congregated to talk and hang out. Having not sufficiently humiliated myself with Jim Beaver yet, I joined the little circle of folks standing with him. I was touched once again by him talking about his little girl, Maddie, and the journey she's made from losing her mother so young to a precocious 6-year-old who is, Jim fears, destined for world dictatorship. *G*

Tonight I only had a single glass of wine, so I took the chance when offered to chat with Jim about writing, the subject I'd *meant* to bring up in his Q&A before hanged-over-ness turned my brains to applesauce. ;-) I can only say again what a good and decent man Jim is, to lend himself and his attentions to us. I truly enjoy how articulate and intelligent he is, how deeply he thinks under that gruff exterior. We chatted for quite a while about his upcoming book and writing in general, and I hope he knows how much I appreciated his time. :-)

And ... that was pretty much that. I straggled back on up to the room, where the rest of my roomies were already asleep.  Karina and I, however, stayed up nattering and whispering for probably another hour, until we conked out. Tomorrow was JARED DAY!

      Episode 4.01
      Lazarus Rising
      Written by: Eric Kripke
      Directed by: Kim Manners
Guest Starring: Genevieve Cortese, Misha Collins, Traci Dinwiddie
Plot Summary: Dean has fought his way out of the grave, but he looks awfully good for a man four months' dead. The question of who sprung him out of hell is just the beginning.
      Review:

Supernatural, Season Four is here! But know this: when Kripke gives us something we want, he's as apt to give us something we don't.

First, though, Kripke's mad genius rocked the early minutes while barely making a sound. We get flashes of darkness and bloody light, rolling eyeballs and fragments of screams - until the click of a lighter reveals Dean, alive but trapped in claustrophobic gloom. His rasping screech for help is scarcely a voice, and there's only one way out. Dean finally claws his way up to daylight and a scorching blue sky, and oh yes, the lighting is harsh and vibrant, full of delicious contrast, the shadows stark and the colors snapping. I like, Eric, I like, I do!

Once aboveground, Jensen's performance shines as a man unfamiliar with a world he used to know. He peers warily about the gravesite, trees now blasted flat as Tunguska, before bowlegging his way down an empty, shimmering road, like a lone gunfighter appearing from a mirage. At isolated convenience store, he breaks in and helps himself to supplies: water, candy bars, and a skin magazine, proof positive that this is truly Dean. A newspaper tells the date: September 18th. We are watching his resurrection in "real time."

Now, I had wondered if Dean would bear hellhound scars, and he obliges us by consulting a mirror. There are none, just his anti-possession tattoo - yay, continuity! - but I was startled as Dean by the bright, angry burn scar on his left shoulder, shaped like a fiery hand. His silent explorations end with the buzzing of the TV and radio, and Dean remembers the signs.

Weaponless, he grabs salt and starts shaking out defensive lines, but an ear-splintering whine blows all the windows in. It bounces him off the walls in a hurricane of broken glass, before silence falls again. Alone is not something Dean does well, and his homing instincts are true. But Sam's number is disconnected, while Bobby hangs up with a death threat, so Dean hotwires a beat-up old 1962 Mercury Monterey and heads out.

The scene at Bobby's door is priceless: Dean standing there with a hopeful little smile, looking about ten years old, until a horrified Bobby attacks with a silver knife. But a little wrasslin', a little dodging around the furniture, and some holy water to the face leads to a rib-cracking, sniffle-inducing hug. Bobby's had it hard these four months past, as evidenced by the small army of liquor bottles populating his library.

Sam, however, is off the grid. He's presumed alive, but he went quiet, says Bobby, real quiet, and disappeared after burying Dean. Buried, rather than salted and burned, because Sam had said Dean would "need a body when he got you back home somehow." It's clear now that Sam has done something calamitously stupid. But how do you find a hunter who doesn't want to be found? Dean just smirks, "What don't I know about that kid?" Remember that question, folks.

In moments, Dean pinpoints Sam through the GPS on his cell phone in Pontiac Illinois, just miles from where Dean popped back to life. He and Bobby hit the road, but we get our first clue how different things are, when a scantily clad Random Girl opens Sam's hotel room door. She's looking for pizza delivery, but Sam, (freshly damp from the shower and awesomely buff) looks like he's seeing a ghost - or worse. His reaction turns explosive and blessed be Bobby's hunter's skills, that he ears Sam down before Dean ends up right back dead.

But finally, finally, fans are treated to the full-body, grappling hug of which we've so long dreamed, the brothers clinging tight as if absorbing the reality through their bones. There's a grin or two, as well, when Sam stammers around Random Girl's inquiry whether Dean and Sam are, you know, "together," and he forgets her name when she volunteers to leave.

However ... something is missing. Sam's simply too quiet, too contained, the only crack in his façade when Dean accuses him of making a demon's deal. For a moment, we glimpse the bone-deep anguish Sam has borne, for it wasn't Sam who freed Dean from Hell. But it wasn't for lack of trying, even to attempting the Devil's Gate, and Sam is sorry, so sorry.

There's hope for the old brotherly rapport when Sam returns a special talisman: Dean's amulet, which Sam has worn since his brother's death. Hope again, in the comedic moment when Sam hands over the keys to the Impala and Dean discovers Sam installed an iPod jack. But when Dean asks how Sam survived Lilith's attack, Sam says he was somehow immune. (Shades of his resistance to the demonic virus in "Croatoan.") Sam swears he's done nothing else, however, and Dean slams the door on Sam's freaky powers, saying grimly, "Let's keep it that way."

Pamela Barnes is, IMHO, one of the most refreshing female characters SPN has introduced in a while. An old friend of Bobby's, she is a gutsy, gorgeous, plainspoken psychic - and an outrageous flirt. Pamela's task is a séance designed to reveal what pulled Dean out of Hell, for which she needs to touch something Dean's monster touched. Sam is visibly freaked at the sight of Dean's livid scar, and it's a sweet, subtle thing how he tightens his clasp on his brother's hand.

Pamela meanwhile proceeds with the séance, commanding the creature to show itself to her. Castiel is the name she hears whispered, and she forges on despite its warnings, demanding its compliance. Instead, the candles whoosh into flame, Pamela's eyes blaze white, and she screams as blood pours down her face. She collapses, and while Sam scrambles to dial 911, she opens the blackened pits that used to be her eyes, now burned out and rendering her blind.

Later in a diner, the boys order pie and discuss their next move. Dean wants to try again while Sam adamantly refuses, saying he followed some demons here, so they should find and interrogate them, instead. Before they can agree on a course of action, though, the waitress sits at their table and reveals demon-black eyes. Two other men in the place are also demons.

The demonic waitress talks a good talk, threatening Dean while Sam restrains himself from diving over the table at her. But the demons don't know any more than Sam or Dean, and Dean realizes they are terrified of whatever broke him out. We see a brittle, seething temper in him when she threatens him again, and he slaps her twice before he and Sam walk out, unhindered.

Outside, Dean heaves a sigh of relief, but Sam almost jitters with anxiety over leaving three demons there, declaring that he's been killing a lot more demons than that, lately. "Not any more," Dean quips, "the smarter brother is back," and they'll handle just one job at a time. But Sam's look of simmering impatience says he's been alone too long to start taking orders, now.

Later that night, Dean conks out on the hotel sofa bed amidst a tumble of books, evidence of their search for answers, while Sam sneaks out and drives off in the Impala. He doesn't hear me shriek, "Nooo, you know what happens when you split up!" Sure enough, Dean awakens to supernatural static on the TV and clock radio. He rolls out of bed with shotgun in hand, (ooh, let me replay that again) but another explosion of glass and a piercing whine crushes him to the floor. He screams, clutching his ears, until Bobby bursts in and there the screen goes dark.

The boys' separation is far more than physical, when Dean calls to locate Sam. Sam says he couldn't sleep and has just gone for a burger, while Dean replies he and Bobby have gone for a beer. It's a total disconnect between the boys that sits in my guts like a bowling ball, and only the fact Sam and Dean are both hip deep in subterfuge allows such blithely absurd lies to work.

Granted, it's a tossup whose plan is worse. Dean wants to summon the thing that pulled him from Hell and burned out Pamela's eyes, and he doesn't want Sam to interfere. Sam wants to take on a diner full of demons alone. It's big-brother instinct compelling Dean to keep Sam away from the Power he intends to face, but Sam? Well, Sam evidently regard demons anywhere in the same zip code as Dean as a clear and present danger.

Sam picks the lock on the darkened diner only to find the cook dead, his eyes burned out. Something leaps from the darkness and he's on the short end of an ass kicking until he shoves his assailant off and it's the demon waitress - alive, but with her eyes also gone. Sam demands to know what she saw, but she only sobs that, "We're dead. We're all dead." She refuses to give any further answers, snarling, "Go to Hell," and oops, was that a mistake.

Sam raises one hand, closes his eyes, and holy freaking cats! It *looked* a bit corny, but Sam's powers are back, boy howdy! Black stuff pours from the waitress' mouth as if she were vomiting smoke, boiling and roiling until she collapses and falls. He stands an instant, dark and grim, but a flicker of the old Sam remains in his muted "damn it" when he finds the girl is dead.

My mouth is still open when a voice speaks from the shadows, and voila! The Random Girl at the hotel was not so random. It's Ruby, which begs an interesting question. Did Ruby find her own way back from wherever Lilith sent her, or did Sam summon her for his own ends? Whatever the case, it's evident they have an established association and Ruby can't ID the power that burned out these people's eyes and pulled Dean out of Hell.

"No demon can swing that," she says. "Not Lilith, not anybody."

Their conversation concludes with a double dose of creepy. The first is when Ruby says she doesn't want to come between Sam and his brother. (Since when?) Second is when Sam reflects on his actions, and in almost one breath swings from, "I don't know if what I'm doing is right," to "I'm saving people ... and that feels good. I want to keep going." It's a weird sort of eagerness that makes my neck hairs prickle, because just what *has* Sam been doing?

Meanwhile, Dean and Bobby have created a tagger's wet dream by spray-painting sigils and symbols from a hundred religions all over the inside of an old barn. Now, they literally swing their heels waiting to see if Bobby's ritual will summon anything. When the roof starts rattling and the door bursts in, I do not expect this: a mild-faced man in a tie and overcoat who walks amidst exploding light bulbs, and continues forward through a hail of ineffective gunfire.

"Who are you?" Dean demands, now clutching the demon-killing knife.

The stranger coolly replies, "I'm the one who gripped you tight and raised you from perdition."

He is Castiel, he who burned the eyes out of Pamela Barnes and flattened Dean's gravesite like a bomb. Dean stabs him with the magick knife, Bobby attacks from behind, but Castiel shrugs them off, and puts Bobby down with a mere touch between the eyes.

Seconds later, Castiel answers Dean's question, and Kripke did promise this episode would blow the fandom wide open: "I am an angel of the Lord," Castiel says, and God commanded Dean's resurrection. The reason, he says, "Because we have work for you."

And there it is. All Kripke's declarations that we would never see angels, that humans were the power of Good, and here is a walking, talking, glass-shattering seraph, complete with shadowy wings. Now Sam has a self-appointed mission to snuff demons, using powers some fear are Evil. Dean is being handed a job whose nature we do not yet know, by forces we are taught are Good. We can guess that Sam will justify his means by the end that he pursues: hunting evil. We can expect Dean to rage and shout, and point up the fact that Sam's advisor is a demon. Their fears for each other, instead of bringing them together, are already driving them apart.

Yet I don't think the struggle will be between evil!Sam and good!Dean. Nor am I convinced that Dean was brought back to stop Sam. Sam's far more into killing demons than leading them, so what, exactly, would God want to stop him doing? It may be that Kripke's idea of Angels is anything but heavenly choirs and beams of light. Clearly, Castiel does not comprehend Dean, neither his lack of faith nor his basic humanity. He seems genuinely bewildered that Dean could not perceive Castiel's true visage or bear his real voice. The angel has a mission, and the mission might be all he knows.

The question may actually be, given our suspicions of Ruby's intentions for Sam ... how can we trust Castiel's intentions for Dean? The conflict may be the boys fighting for the same goal by conflicting means, while un-human Powers push and pull them towards ends that serve the Winchesters' best interests not at all. I think the boys will find their way back to each other, sometime, somewhere, but it's going to be a long and rocky road.

As for the Angel thing? Relax, fellow fans. Kripke has never gone Southern Baptist on us yet. I sincerely doubt he's about to start now. :-)

Jared and Jensen are two sexy guys who drive a very, very hot car from city to city to fight off demons everywhere they go. I think if two guys can fight demons they can do just about anything they want because as hot as they are how can they not be married aleady. Supernatural is my favorite show I never miss espoide on Thursday night, because I look forward to seeing it, and watching because it's getting more and more intensed now that season 4 is going on. I believe the closer they get to finding the demon their looking for will finally be taken down, and Dean's life will be safed by Sam, and Bobby. It's hard not having their father there but their doing whatever has to be done to end the fight with 300 demons that were let out of hell's gate. Sam's not stuipd to know that his brother may die but he's doing everything he can do to try and safe Dean from his terrible deal that Lillath holds on him.

      Episode 4.1

      Lazarus Rising

      Int. Unknown Location

A shaken, defenseless Guy crouches beside Bobby, checking his pulse. Castiel states that the guy’s friend is alive. The Guy asks just who is Castiel. Castiel answers with his name. The Guy says that he figured that, but what is Castiel.

Castiel replies that he’s a demon. Guy says that Castiel burned out the poor woman’s eyes. Castiel defends that he warned her to spy oh his true form. It can be overwhelming to humans, so can his real voice, but that our Guy knows that already.

It clicks together for our Guy and he recalls that the voice at the gas station and motel room was Castiel. He tells Castiel to talk quieter next time. Castiel somewhat apologizes saying that it was his mistake. Certain people, special people can see his true visage, and he thought that our Guy would be one of them. But he was wrong.

Guy pokes fun, asking what ‘visage’ Castiel is in now ‘cause he looks like a tax accountant. Castiel says that this look is merely a vessel. Guy states that Castiel is just possessing someone. But Castiel replies that his vessel wanted this.

Guy says that it might’ve been easier if Castiel would’ve shown up in a vessel the first time. But Castiel states that finding a human vessel durable enough to contain him isn’t easy. Guy jokes that he has that same problem with woman then says that he ain’t buying what Castiel is selling, so what is he really?

Castiel says that he already told Guy, and Guy says that right, and why would someone rescue him. Castiel returns that good things can happen and Guy says that it doesn’t in his experience. Castiel asks Guy what’s the matter, doesn’t Guy deserve to live.

He’s hit a nerve and our Guy asks why’d Castiel do it. Castiel replies that he has work for Guy.

      Int. Hotel Hallway

There’s a knock on the door, and the door opens revealing a hot chic wearing a flimsy robe. She isn’t expected and the girl is a bit confused herself. She asks the two at the door where it is. And Guy returns with a clueless where’s what?

The Hot Chick points out that she’s supposed to have a pizza, and asks if it really takes two guys to deliver it. Guy stammers that he thinks he has the wrong room.

Sam Winchester enters the room, from the bathroom asking if the pizza is here. But he’s startled by what he sees at the door and charges, shoving our Guy against the wall, pulling out a silver knife. The Hot Chick screams.

      Int. Motel Room – Later

The Hot Chick is watching on, totally weirded out, she asks if Sam and this guy is together, and Sam says that no, that the guy is his Dad. Hot chick excuses herself without a protest from Sam. She says that she’s just gonna change in the bathroom, and Guy says she could just change right in the room. Hot Chick rolls here eyes and tells Guy to keep dreaming.

Int. Hotel Hallway – Moments Later.

Hot Chick is leaving the hotel room, Sam seeing her out. She tells Sam to call her, and Sam says sure thing, Kathy. The Hot Chick corrects him. Her name is Kristy. She heads down the hall, and Sam closes the door.

      Random Scene - - -

It’s Kristy the hot chic from Sam’s room. But she shouldn’t be here. She congratulates Sam on how slick he’s getting, how much he’s improving. Sam asks what took her so long, and Kristy says that a small fry like that, Sam should send ‘em packing’ himself by now, not relying on her.

Sam asks what the hell is going on and Kristy moves over to one of the corpses, inspecting the eyes. She’s tense and unsettled at what’s before her. Kristy says that she wishes she knew, and Sam replies that they were thinking some high level demon attacked Bobby. Kristy says there’s no way. This kind of power makes the sky bleed and the ground quake. No demon can pull something off like that, not even Lilith.

Sam asks then what can. Kristy says its nothing she’s ever seen before.

      Random Scene

Sam and Kristy sit at a table, deep in conversation. Kristy asks if Sam’s gonna tell Bobby. Sam says he plans to just got to figure out the right way to say it. He just needs some time. Kristy points out that Bobby’s gonna find out, and if its not from Sam then Bobby’s gonna be really pissed.

Sam returns that Bobby’s going to be pissed anyway, and Kristy says that maybe she should hang around for a bit more. Sam protests, but Kristy says that she may not be in Bobby’s fan club, but she’s not coming between him and Sam either.

      Ext. Pamela’s House – Day

Bobby rings the bell and the door opens revealing Pamela, early 40s, sporting a Ramone’s T-shirt. Pamela’s excited to see Bobby and Bobby says that Pamela’s a sight for sore eyes. She asks Bobby if this is the kid.

Bobby says yep and then states that Pamela Barnes is the best damn psychic in the state. Pamela looks the kid up and down and tells the two to come on in.

      Int. Pamela’s House—Moments Later

Bobby and Pamela move around the house, toward the kitchen. Bobby asks if Pamela’s heard anything. Pamela says she Ouija-d her way through a ton of spirits, and no one knows what happened or how. Bobby ask what’s the next step, and Pamela suggest a séance ‘cause maybe they can see what they’re up against.

Bobby asks if Pamela’s gonna summon the thing here. Pamela says no, she just wants a sneak peek.

      Int. Pamela’s House – Kitchen – Day

Pamela moves to and fro across the room, preparing it for the séance. As Pamela goes to reach for some candles, her shirt lifts revealing a tattoo just about her butt. It says Jesse Forever.

Sam asks who Jesse is and Pamela says it wasn’t forever. Sam says it was Jesse’s loss. Pamela retorts that it might be Sam’s gain. On her way to get more supplies, Pamela looks toward Bobby and says that he’s invited too.

Int. Pamela’s House – Kitchen – Moments Later

Everyone’s around the table, candles lit, ready for the séance. Pamela tells everyone to take each other’s hand, and she’s got to touch something it touched. She reaches for Sam’s lap and Sam stops her. Pamela grins mischievously and says its her mistake.

Pamela presses her palm against Sam’s chest and shuts her eyes, beginning her chant to conjure. She keeps going but stops and in question, says the name Azazel?

Bobby asks her what she’s seeing and Pamela says that it’s name is Azazel. And then picks up the chant, saying that she commands Azazel to show it’s face.

Pamela keeps repeating, a racket begins, the table is even shaking under the force of it all. Bobby warns that they should stop. Pamela says that she’s almost got it and commands Azazel to show it’s face now.

Pamela lets loose an agonized scream and collapses. Bobby panics calling out to Pamela, and she stirs weakly, asking what happened?
